Five Blue Haired Ladies Sitting on a Green Bench”
I was so pleased to get the e-mail announcing your production this Spring in Midhurst, West Sussex. And, your enthusiasm is a sure guarantee that your theater will be filled with the laughter and tears I intended to evoke when I first sat down in the park to write “Five Blue Haired Ladies Sitting on a Green Park Bench.”
I offer no other advice than this… Listen to your hearts, keep your ears open when listening to each other’s words and think of these five woman as the fingers on a hand. In other words… to open the door to your audience’s minds and hearts, you’ll need all five working together in body, mind and spirit.
Enjoy the laughter and tears along your journey and the audience will surely enjoy them all the more when you arrive on opening night
This being the first day of your rehearsal, I know you are well on your way to exercising everyone’s dramatic muscle, so to all I say, “Break a leg… or is it a hip?”
Best and Brightest, John A. Penzotti, Playwright
